Summary

This study tested whether using a special monitor called the Oxygen Reserve Index (ORI) during surgery could help prevent a common complication called atelectasis, where parts of the lung collapse. Researchers compared this new monitoring method to standard oxygen monitoring in 58 adults having elective robotic surgery. The goal was to see if the ORI-guided approach reduced lung collapse, which was checked using a bedside ultrasound after the operation.
