First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated Jun 10, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study looked at 60 very preterm or low birth weight babies to see which type of connector used on their central line (a special IV) works better to prevent serious bloodstream infections. Researchers compared a split septum connector to a mechanical valve connector. They tracked infections, length of hospital stay, and deaths to find out which connector is safer.
