Skin-Saving combo tested to stop cancer Drug's painful side effect

NCT ID NCT06856590

Summary

This study tested whether taking zinc pills and using a strong steroid cream could prevent or reduce the painful hand-foot skin rash that often occurs with the cancer drug regorafenib. About 150 patients starting this cancer treatment were assigned to receive either the zinc, the cream, or both together for 8 weeks. Researchers measured how bad the rash got, if patients could stay on their full cancer treatment, and how it affected their quality of life.
