Chats with moms may stop baby tooth decay

Summary

This study tests if motivational interviewing, a counseling style, can help mothers prevent early childhood caries (tooth decay) in their infants. About 228 mother-infant pairs in Malaysia will be split into two groups: one gets standard advice, the other gets motivational interviewing sessions. Researchers will check the babies' teeth and mothers' knowledge at 6, 9, and 12 months old.
