Study tests retraining to stop deadly dialysis infections

NCT ID NCT01293799

Summary

This large European study aimed to see if regularly checking and refreshing patients' knowledge and skills for performing home peritoneal dialysis could prevent serious abdominal infections called peritonitis. It involved 713 new dialysis patients who could perform their treatment without help. Patients in the test group received regular quizzes and practical skill checks, with extra training if needed, while the control group received standard care.
