Can a common drug stop a dangerous gut infection before it starts?
NCT ID NCT07221708
Summary
This study aims to see if giving the antibiotic vancomycin by mouth can prevent a serious gut infection called C. diff in older patients who are already taking other antibiotics. About 200 participants will be randomly assigned to either receive the vancomycin pill along with their regular antibiotic or just the regular antibiotic alone. Researchers will compare how many people in each group develop the C. diff infection over about three months.
