Hospital trial aims to block deadly gut infection before it starts
NCT ID NCT07221370
Summary
This study is testing if a liquid antibiotic called vancomycin, taken by mouth, can prevent dangerous C. diff infections in critically ill adults who are at high risk while in the hospital. Researchers will compare the drug to a placebo (inactive liquid) in 176 participants to see if it lowers infection rates. The study will also check for safety and monitor for other bacteria that might become resistant to antibiotics.
