Summary

This study tested whether two common medications, magnesium and fentanyl, could prevent dangerous spikes in blood pressure and heart rate when a breathing tube is placed during surgery. Researchers enrolled 76 patients aged 50 and older to compare the drugs given alone or together. The goal was to find a safer way to manage this common but risky side effect of anesthesia in older adults.
