Hidden dental secrets: new study maps extra roots in egyptian molars
NCT ID NCT07382934
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study will look at 395 Egyptian adults using 3D dental X-rays (CBCT) to see how often lower molars have extra roots (radix entomolaris) or extra canals (middle mesial canal). Knowing this can help dentists avoid missing these during root canal treatment. The study is purely observational and does not test any treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help dentists better identify and treat these extra roots and canals, improving root canal success rates.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It only measures prevalence and may not apply to other populations.
