New supplement aims to help tiny babies thrive

NCT ID NCT06212427

First seen Dec 09, 2025 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looks at whether adding two specific sugars found in breast milk (called HMOs) to a liquid supplement helps preterm babies (born at or before 34 weeks) digest milk and grow. About 188 babies will receive the supplement, and their progress will be compared to similar babies from the past who did not get it. The goal is to see if the supplement helps them reach full feeding faster and gain weight, length, and head size better.
