First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated Jun 21, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This completed trial tested a swallowable smart capsule called PressureDOT that measures pressure inside the abdomen. Twenty healthy people swallowed the capsule and did exercise while the device sent pressure data wirelessly. The goal was to see if the capsule can safely and accurately detect elevated intra-abdominal pressure, a condition that can signal serious health problems.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

PressureDOT smart capsule (pressure-sensing ingestible device)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could provide a safer, wireless way to detect dangerous internal pressure early, reducing infections from current methods.

What could go wrong

This is a very small, early-phase trial with only 20 healthy people. The capsule may not work reliably in real patients, and there is a small risk of it getting stuck.

As listed by the trial registrant

The condition terms exactly as the trial's registrant entered them.
