Light and sound therapy shows promise for healing bedsores in elderly

NCT ID NCT07383519

Summary

This study tested whether adding two treatments—ultrasonic wound cleaning and special light therapy—to standard care could better heal serious pressure injuries (bedsores) in people aged 55 and older. Researchers worked with 118 patients who had severe sores, comparing the new combination to standard care alone. They looked at how well and how quickly wounds healed, how much pain patients felt, and the total treatment cost.
