Summary

This study looked at whether giving children with iron-deficiency anemia oral iron for 6-12 weeks before elective noncardiac surgery improves their hemoglobin levels. 755 children aged 6 months to 16 years participated. The goal was to see if this simple, low-cost treatment is effective and practical in a real-world setting.
