Watch your surgery before it happens? study says it may ease dental fear

NCT ID NCT07484334

First seen Apr 23, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study looked at whether showing patients a video of the actual surgery or a 3D animation before their wisdom tooth removal could help them stay calmer during the procedure. 72 adults were split into three groups: one got standard verbal instructions, another watched a real surgery video, and the third watched a 3D animation. The researchers measured blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen levels at several points during the surgery to see if the videos reduced stress. They also checked if the videos lowered dental fear beforehand.
