First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study tested a surgery done before birth to repair a spinal defect called myelomeningocele (a severe form of spina bifida). The goal was to reduce brain problems and limit nerve damage. 38 pregnant women carrying a fetus with this condition took part. The surgery aims to improve outcomes but does not cure the condition, so it is classified as disease control.
