New blood test could spot serious genetic diseases before birth
NCT ID NCT06808880
Summary
This study aims to develop and validate a new prenatal blood test that can screen for serious inherited genetic conditions like cystic fibrosis, spinal muscular atrophy, and sickle cell disease. Researchers will collect blood samples from 4,000 pregnant women whose pregnancies are at higher risk for these disorders. The goal is to provide expectant parents with information about their baby's health risk using a simple blood draw, potentially avoiding more invasive procedures.
