New sensor belt could let pregnant women track Baby's heartbeat at home

NCT ID NCT06683170

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This pilot study tests a special belt that measures the mother's heart rate, breathing, blood pressure, and the baby's heart rate and movements. 35 pregnant women will wear the belt for 2 hours in a hospital while their vitals are also checked with standard monitors. The goal is to see if the belt is accurate, comfortable, and easy to use. If it works well, it could one day allow remote pregnancy monitoring.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
sensorized pregnancy monitoring belt
What this could lead to
If successful, this belt could offer a simple way to monitor pregnancy at home, potentially improving prenatal care and parent-fetus bonding.
What could go wrong
This is a very small pilot study (35 people) testing accuracy and usability, not health outcomes. The belt may not be accurate enough or comfortable for everyday use.
