Could a common steroid ease autism symptoms? early trial begins

NCT ID NCT06934915

Summary

This early study aims to see if the steroid prednisone can help control the core symptoms of autism in adult males who have a specific subtype linked to immune system activity. Researchers will compare prednisone to a placebo (inactive pill) in 32 participants over 16 weeks to check for effects and safety. The main goal is to gather initial evidence on whether anti-inflammatory drugs like prednisone warrant larger future studies for this group.
