New scan aims to spot heart attack patients at risk of deadly rupture

NCT ID NCT06450912

Summary

This study tested a new measurement from a special heart scan to see if it could predict which patients are at high risk for a dangerous complication called cardiac rupture after a specific type of severe heart attack. Researchers enrolled 250 patients who had a major heart attack and a procedure to open their blocked artery. They used advanced heart MRI scans to see if the new measurement could identify vulnerable areas of the heart muscle that might tear.
