Heart scan breakthrough could end guesswork for AFib medication

NCT ID NCT05084495

Summary

This study aimed to find better ways to predict if a medication called flecainide will work for people with atrial fibrillation (AFib), a common irregular heartbeat. Researchers followed 50 patients for a year, using detailed heart scans and ECG tests to see if they could identify who would stay in normal rhythm and who might have side effects. The goal is to move away from the current 'trial-and-error' approach to prescribing this drug.
