First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study tested whether a mathematical model could predict if a herniated disc in the lower back would return within 3 years after surgery. Researchers followed 386 patients aged 18-70 who had standard disc surgery. The goal was to see if the model could help doctors identify patients at higher risk for recurrence, but the study was observational and did not change treatment.
