Heart scan could warn doctors before dialysis causes dangerous blood pressure crash
NCT ID NCT07019051
Summary
This study looked at whether a simple heart ultrasound scan, done right before starting dialysis, could predict which critically ill patients in the ICU would have a dangerous drop in blood pressure during the treatment. Researchers measured specific heart function values in 40 adult patients needing dialysis and then watched to see who needed medication or extra fluids to support their blood pressure in the first hour. The goal is to help doctors plan safer, more personalized dialysis by identifying high-risk patients in advance.
