Doctors search for early warning signs to prevent breathing crisis in tiniest babies

NCT ID NCT05260424

Summary

This study aimed to find early signs that could predict when a common, non-invasive breathing support method fails for premature babies with respiratory distress syndrome. Researchers followed nearly 400 infants born before 32 weeks to identify which babies were most at risk of needing a breathing tube. The goal was to help doctors know when to give a lung treatment called surfactant at the right time to potentially avoid serious complications.
