Summary
This study looked at over 1,000 preterm infants with very low platelet counts to create a tool that predicts their risk of major bleeding or death. The goal is to help doctors decide whether a platelet transfusion would help or harm each baby at a given moment. The model uses the baby's current health information to give personalized risk estimates, aiming to improve care in the neonatal intensive care unit.
