Summary

This study tests whether a new form of nicotinic acid (vitamin B3), designed to release in the lower gut, can help people with prediabetes return to normal blood sugar levels and avoid type 2 diabetes. About 390 adults with prediabetes will take either the drug or a placebo daily for 26 weeks, along with lifestyle advice. The main goal is to see if the drug can safely reverse prediabetes.
