Drug combo tested to shrink tumors before liver surgery

Summary

This study tested if giving two drugs—pembrolizumab and vactosertib—after standard chemotherapy but before surgery could help shrink colorectal cancer that had spread to the liver. The goal was to make surgery more effective and lower the chance of the cancer coming back. After surgery, some participants could optionally continue the drugs for up to a year. The trial was terminated early after enrolling only 6 people.
