First seen Feb 15, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study looks at whether taking acid-reducing medication (PPIs) every day for a year after a throat procedure called POEM is better than only taking it when symptoms appear. The goal is to prevent acid reflux and damage to the food pipe. About 132 adults with achalasia (a swallowing disorder) will take part. The results will help doctors decide the best way to manage reflux after this surgery.
