Summary

This study is testing a new device called the PPAL, a powered commode that adjusts height and has built-in transfer boards. The goal is to see if it helps people who have trouble getting on and off the toilet do so more safely and with less help from caregivers. Sixteen adults who weigh 300 pounds or less and can sit without help for at least 2 minutes will use the device at home for six weeks. Researchers will measure changes in fear of falling and toileting ability, and interview participants about their experience.
