Could neck exercises turn back the clock on aging voices?
NCT ID NCT07771114
First seen Aug 18, 2026 · Last updated Aug 19, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This trial tests whether posture correction and deep neck muscle exercises can improve voice quality in older adults with presbyphonia, an age-related voice disorder. Participants will do either neck stabilization exercises or traditional cervical exercises for six weeks. Researchers will measure voice recordings, breathing, and voice-related difficulties before and after to see if these exercises help support healthier voice production.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Neck stabilization exercises and traditional cervical exercises
- What this could lead to
- If effective, this could offer a non-drug, supportive therapy to improve voice quality and daily communication in older adults with age-related voice changes.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial, and results may not apply to everyone. Improvements may be modest, and the exercises require regular commitment.
