First seen Dec 12, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looked at whether the drop in pregnancy hormones after childbirth triggers mood problems in women who have had postpartum depression before. Researchers created a temporary hormone environment similar to pregnancy and then stopped it to see how mood changed. 74 women with a history of postpartum depression took part. The goal was to better understand the cause of postpartum mood disorders.
