Scientists search for early warning signs of Post-Baby depression

NCT ID NCT06947278

Summary

This study aims to understand if measuring certain brain chemicals in blood and spinal fluid can help predict which women might develop depression after childbirth. Researchers followed 200 women having cesarean sections, collecting fluid samples and tracking their mood for 42 days after delivery. The goal is to identify biological markers that could signal depression risk before symptoms fully develop.
