First seen Feb 04, 2026 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study looked at whether taking postbiotics (beneficial bacterial byproducts) for 4 weeks could change gut bacteria and reduce inflammation and muscle damage after hard exercise. Fifteen physically active adults took either postbiotics or a placebo, then ran downhill and did a time trial. Researchers measured gut health, blood markers of inflammation and oxidative stress, and muscle soreness. The goal was to see if postbiotics could help athletes recover better.
