Tongue zaps may help stroke survivors regain balance
NCT ID NCT06470009
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 10, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study tests a small device that stimulates the tongue (PoNS) combined with physical therapy to improve walking and balance in people who had a stroke at least 6 months ago. 60 adults aged 18-84 with lasting leg weakness and walking problems will be randomly assigned to get real or fake stimulation. The goal is to see if the device is safe and helps with movement, but it is not a cure—ongoing management is expected.
