Natural oil tested to fight infections in dementia patients
NCT ID NCT07432763
Summary
This study tested whether giving pomegranate seed oil as a daily supplement for 24 weeks could help patients with advanced dementia. Researchers wanted to see if it could reduce common problems like urinary tract infections and pneumonia, and possibly help doctors lower or stop antipsychotic medications. They compared the oil against usual care in a small group of 18 patients receiving end-of-life care.
