New tape could fix unstable kneecaps in Long-Term trial
NCT ID NCT05264389
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study is testing two types of Poly-Tape devices used to rebuild a key ligament in the kneecap. Researchers will follow 59 patients for up to 5 years after surgery to see if the tape helps prevent the kneecap from dislocating again and improves knee function. The goal is to confirm the devices are safe and work well over time.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Poly-Tape devices (10mm Poly-Tape or 5mm Infinity-Lock Tape)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could confirm that Poly-Tape devices are a safe and effective option for repairing the kneecap ligament, helping patients regain stability and function.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, non-randomized study with only 59 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. There is a risk of re-dislocation or complications like any surgery.
