First seen Mar 18, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving a medication called dexmedetomidine for 48 hours after bowel surgery helps patients recover better. About 70 adults having laparoscopic bowel surgery will receive either the drug or a placebo (salt water) by IV. The goal is to see if it reduces pain, cuts down on opioid use, and improves overall recovery without serious side effects.
