Blood test may predict sepsis in kidney patients
NCT ID NCT05939245
First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This study looked at 40 ICU patients with sepsis-related acute kidney injury to see if a blood marker called pNGAL could predict sepsis. One group received a diuretic (furosemide) to remove excess fluid, while the other did not. Researchers measured pNGAL levels at the start and after 48 hours to see if it could guide treatment.
