Could avoiding a chest tube be the better treatment for a collapsed lung?

NCT ID NCT07331805

Summary

This study aims to see if simply monitoring a stable, large collapsed lung (pneumothorax) works just as well as the standard treatment of inserting a chest tube. Researchers will compare the two approaches in 436 adults to see if 'watchful waiting' leads to similar healing, fewer complications, shorter hospital stays, and lower costs. The goal is to reduce unnecessary invasive procedures for patients who are stable.
