Major trial tests which common steroid saves more lives from severe pneumonia

NCT ID NCT06892197

Summary

This large study aims to find out which of two commonly used steroid medications—hydrocortisone or prednisolone—works better for adults with severe pneumonia. It will enroll 1,600 patients to see which drug leads to better survival within 30 days and causes fewer side effects like infections or high blood sugar. The goal is to help doctors choose the safest and most effective steroid treatment.
