Scientists map lung bugs to predict when pneumonia treatments fail

NCT ID NCT06916481

Summary

This study aims to understand how the community of bacteria in a patient's lungs influences their recovery from pneumonia. Researchers will observe 300 adults with different types of pneumonia, tracking their lung bacteria over time to see if specific patterns can predict when standard antibiotic treatments fail or lead to antibiotic resistance. The goal is to gather knowledge that could one day help doctors choose more effective, personalized treatments.
