First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study tested a two-step pneumococcal vaccine approach in 70 adults who had their spleen removed. Participants received one dose of a conjugate vaccine followed by a second dose of a polysaccharide vaccine two months later. The goal was to see if this combination improved immune response against 9 common pneumococcal bacteria types that can cause serious infections. Results were measured by antibody levels one month after the second shot.
