New vaccine combo tested to shield older adults from pneumonia and flu

Summary
This study is testing if a new vaccine (VAX-31) designed to prevent pneumococcal disease (like pneumonia) is safe and works well when given at the same time as the seasonal flu shot. It will involve about 1300 healthy adults aged 50 and older who have never had a pneumococcal vaccine. Researchers will compare giving both shots together to giving them one month apart to see if the combination affects safety or how well the body builds protection.
