First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 04, 2026 · Updated 32 times

Summary

This study aimed to better understand premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and its severe form, PMDD, by evaluating over 1,500 women. Participants completed interviews, mood ratings, and hormone tests to identify what causes mood changes before menstruation. A subgroup with severe symptoms also joined studies on possible treatments and genetic factors. The goal was to describe symptoms and find biological clues, not to test a new treatment.
