Study tests simpler Wash-Out against powerful drugs for serious chest infections

NCT ID NCT05903417

Summary

This study compared two non-surgical treatments for serious lung infections where fluid builds up and becomes trapped. It tested whether simply washing the area with salt water (saline irrigation) works as well and is as safe as using a combination of two powerful clot-busting drugs (t-PA and DNase). The goal for both methods was to help drain the infected fluid better, potentially helping patients avoid surgery, recover faster, and leave the hospital sooner.
