Video games that teach calm: new therapy trial for kids with autism

NCT ID NCT07322640

Summary

This study is testing whether adding a fun, game-like biofeedback system to regular play therapy helps children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) better manage their emotions and improve social skills. Sixty-eight children, aged 6-10, will be randomly assigned to receive either standard play therapy or play therapy plus the biofeedback game, which uses a comfortable armband to turn heart-rate calming into rewards. The goal is to see if this combined approach leads to greater improvements in emotional regulation and social behavior than therapy alone.
