Scientists probe why Life-Saving platelet transfusions fail
NCT ID NCT05399693
Summary
This study aimed to understand why some patients with very low platelet counts stop responding to platelet transfusions, a serious complication. Researchers studied 50 adult patients who had received a stem cell transplant or had acute leukemia and needed platelet transfusions. The goal was to identify specific antibodies in the blood that might predict or explain this treatment resistance to help guide future care.
