Blood thinner users with head bleeds: do platelet transfusions help?
NCT ID NCT06433622
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 11, 2026 · Updated 30 times
Summary
This study looks at whether giving platelets (cells that help blood clot) to people with severe head injuries who are on antiplatelet medications (blood thinners) can improve clotting and stop the bleeding from getting worse. About 225 adults with traumatic brain bleeding will be enrolled. Researchers will check platelet function before and after transfusion and use CT scans to see if the bleed stabilizes.
