Can a blood injection save your sight? new study hopes so
NCT ID NCT07341919
First seen Jan 18, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This early-phase study tests whether injecting a concentrated form of a patient's own blood (platelet-rich plasma) around the eye can help preserve vision in people with retinitis pigmentosa or a related retinal disease called EMAP. Thirty adults will receive three injections over four months and be followed for six months to check for safety and any changes in their visual field and sharpness. The goal is to slow vision loss, not to cure the underlying condition.
