Blood clot gel may help smokers heal faster after tooth surgery
NCT ID NCT07604584
First seen Jun 06, 2026 · Last updated Jun 06, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether placing a gel made from a patient's own blood (platelet-rich fibrin) into the tooth socket after wisdom tooth removal can reduce pain, swelling, and jaw stiffness. Thirty adults with two impacted wisdom teeth each had one socket treated with the gel and the other left untreated. Researchers compared results between smokers and nonsmokers during the first week after surgery.
