Own blood used to fight gum disease and regrow bone

NCT ID NCT07395726

Summary

This study tested whether adding a material made from a patient's own blood, called Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF), could help regrow bone and gum tissue lost to severe gum disease. 60 adults with gum disease and bone loss were randomly assigned to receive either standard gum surgery or standard surgery plus PRF. Researchers measured gum pocket depth and bone changes over 6 months to see if the PRF treatment led to better healing and tissue regrowth.
